The Movement Series was taken in Rajasthan, India. Having so much life and motion around me while at the same time realizing that this apparent “chaos” was in perfect harmony, inspired me to capture this image. Imagine the vibration of the Sari’s colors contrasted with the aridity of the land, thousands of people walking, riding bicycles, motorcycles and camels and suddenly… among the lights, colors, voices and actions, a group of women singing and praying to God.

Miami based award winning photographer and mixed media artist Claudia Calle was selected to participate in “Motion”, a group exhibition sponsored by The Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Hills, Colorado, that will showcase an exquisite international selection of 50 talented photographers. The show took place in the Center’s physical and online gallery from March 19 to April 17, 2010.

The participating artists were selected by juror Rich Clarkson named by American Photo Magazine as one of the 50 most influential individuals in American photography. His professional career includes the positions of director of photography and senior assistant editor of The National Geographic Society, contract photographer for Sports Illustrated, NCAA, Time and Life, and an Honorary Master of Science Degree in Professional Photography from the Brooks Institute of Photography.
